There are a few ways to participate in memecoin mania and buy the next cute crypto animal token. Your preferred method may depend on your risk tolerance, the amount of time you have in a day to dedicate to following token trends, and your experience in trading.
How to buy memecoins on Solana with a Telegram bot
Note: there are many Telegram bots available to use; for this guide, I recommend Bonkbot.
Step 1: Create and fund a Coinbase, Binance, or other crypto on-ramp account
You can use whichever platform you prefer. Coinbase and Binance are the two biggest names in crypto on-ramps. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll be using Coinbase.

- Go to https://www.coinbase.com and click Sign Up
- Follow their prompts to create your account
- Once your account is set up, click the Buy / Sell button in the top right corner of the site
- Coinbase will prompt you to add a payment method; you can easily link your bank account, enter a debit card, or connect your account to an existing PayPal.
- Once your payment method has been added, you’ll see something like this in the Buy / Sell modal window:
6. Click Bitcoin at the top of the modal to switch to Solana.
9. Select or enter the amount you want to purchase, then click Preview Buy (you won’t be charged yet).
10. Click Buy Now on the next screen to complete your purchase. You can buy any amount you’re comfortable with. You can always buy more later!
Step 2: Download Telegram
You can install this on your computer or mobile device.
Step 3: Add Bonkbot to Telegram
- Open this link in your browser: https://t.me/bonkbot_bot?start=ref_et0u7
- Click Start Bot
- Click Start or type

This creates your wallet. Now, we’ll fund your wallet with SOL, the native currency of the Solana blockchain. You’ll spend SOL to buy other coins!
Step 4: Fund your Bonkbot wallet
- Click the address in Bonkbot to copy it to your clipboard.
- Head back over to Coinbase. On the home page, find and click the Send Crypto button.
3. Change the currency to SOL, enter the amount you want to send, and paste your Bonkbot deposit address into the recipient field. Click Preview Send.
4. Double check the amount and recipient address, and then click Send now.
You should see your funds in Bonkbot within a few minutes (likely a few seconds!)
Step 5: Find some memecoins!

I highly recommend joining a Discord group to find new coins early. You can also use websites like gmgn.ai to find trending coins.
- Find a coin you want to buy. Let’s go with $FWOG — a cute frog coin:
2. Find that coin on a site like gmgn.ai, DexScreener, or CoinGecko.
3. Find the token address for the coin. For $FWOG, the address is:

4. Copy the token address.
5. Head back to Telegram and paste the token address into Bonkbot.
Bonkbot will reply with a message like the above screenshot. Now, you’ll need to decide how much $FWOG you want to buy! Click any of the buttons to initiate your purchase.
When your purchase goes through, Bonkbot will reply again with a success message. Congratulations! You’ve just purchased your first Solana memecoin.
